Red Square-chan is the embodiment of the red square save points from Silent Hill 2. She is also the first ever chan. The original artist is Marik Bentusi.

The creation of Red Square-chan stems from Joe's Silent Hill 2 streams in October 2018, when someone in chat said that they thought the zombie nurse enemies looked hot, and Joe said that there's probably porn of them. Then someone in chat said everything probably has porn of it, at which point Joe said "I bet there isn't porn of the red save square", while standing in front of one of Silent Hill 2's save points. Then it wasn't long until various different viewers started drawing red square "lewds", which Joe displayed on the stream. One of these was drawn by Marik, and it was a non-anthropomorphic version of the character who would come to be known as Red Square-chan. After this, he drew a different rendition of her where she was more humanoid. And although this was never shown on stream, it is now recognised to have been the first chan.

However, for a very long time, Red Square-chan had only ever been drawn once. This website follows the rule that the same design of a chan must have been drawn more than once before it gets its own page. But in July 2023, almost five years after her inception, Red Square-chan was drawn by Marik again as part of his Mars Needs Senpais trailer. That is why this page now exists.
