Intern-chan is the embodiment of Tearer's intern from AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative. She was originally drawn by "deleted".
During the ending of AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative, several videos play in which the mastermind, Tearer, explains his perspective and motivations. In these videos, Tearer acts as though he knows details of the story, and appears to react to the protagonists, even though Tearer had died long before the final confrontation. Joe noticed that this was strange[2], and joked that Tearer had prepared a library of different videos for every hypothetical situation, which a frazzled intern chose between in real-time depending on how events played out[3][4].
