In one part of the game, all of the characters need to go to a certain location quickly. But then the game actually makes you travel there manually in order to progress. Joe could've fast traveled there, but he decided to walk all the way there instead to ruin the tension and level up his pet. While he was doing this, a song from the game's soundtrack called "Tropical despair" was playing. So while he was slowly walking to his destination, he started performing his own rendition of the song, which eventually turned into the beloved "Buda buda bum badum badum bum bum".<ref>{{JoeYT2Cite|Rx3_E7JG57g|title=Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair - Joe Begins His Voice Acting Career (Stream Five)|time=5475}}</ref> Now he sings it sometimes when he has to get somewhere quickly in a game.
