Buda buda bum badum badum bum bum

The way that you travel between locations in Danganronpa 2 is by walking along various different looping tracks which have the different locations branching off of them. But once you've already been to a location before, you can just fast travel there instead of walking. However, Danganronpa 2 has a mechanic where you own a virtual pet which is similar to a Tamagotchi, and it grows when you walk, so if you fast travel to locations then it doesn't level up. This meant that Joe would sometimes walk to locations rather than fast traveling to them. You can also run instead of walking, but he figured out that you actually take fewer steps every second when you run, which makes the pet level up slower, even though you move faster. So he just walked everywhere instead.

In one part of the game, all of the characters need to go to a certain location quickly. But then the game actually makes you travel there manually in order to progress. Joe could've fast traveled there, but he decided to walk all the way there instead to ruin the tension and level up his pet. While he was doing this, a song from the game's soundtrack called "Tropical despair" was playing. So while he was slowly walking to his destination, he started performing his own rendition of the song, which eventually turned into the beloved "Buda buda bum badum badum bum bum".[1] Now he sings it sometimes when he has to get somewhere quickly in a game.
