One of Joe's dogs is called Yoshi. Joe is very insistent that he is not the one who named his dog Yoshi, but that it was actually named by one of his children. "Yoshi" in the emote's name is shortened to "yosh" because yosh is a Japanese word which is said a lot in Yakuza 0, which Joe picked up on.

Not to be confused with Yosh-chan who is a distinct chan not at all based on Joe's dog.
