Sae slaps the table

The story of Persona 5 begins in media res, meaning it starts in the middle of the story, and then it tells it from the beginning until it catches up to the part it started with. The first scene in Persona 5 is the protagonist being interrogated by someone called Sae for a crime which he committed. Then every time you meet a major character in the game, it flashes forwards again to the interrogation with Sae questioning the protagonist on the assumption that he must've had someone to help him do something which he couldn't have done by himself, the implication being that the character you just met somehow aided him in the as-yet-unknown crime.

Joe started finding these scenes funny when there were a few about characters with strange, inconsequential skills who the writers obviously had to reach really far to write these scenes about. Then he started making up these scenes for other characters, each of which started with "And then Sae slams the table", because in some of them she gets angry and slams her table. These are usually directed at someone called Waffles, which is what Joe named the protagonist of Persona 5.
