Joe played Doki Doki Literature Club in late 2017. He played it in the middle of his Xenoblade Chronicles 2 playthrough. He played the game while knowing nothing about it, with chat off throughout the whole game so that he could experience it without the risk of seeing any spoilers.[1]
The only stream meme that came from this game is My retinas. One of the main mechanics of the game is reading poems that each of the four girls write after giving them inspiration. In one of the poems written by Monika, there is a line that says
[...] No! I can't see! I reel, blind, like a film left out in the sun. But it's too late. My retinas. [...]
Joe found this immensely funny[2] and it is still referenced on occasion.
