Joms

On the 20th of February 2020, a Discord user called Top Loli posted a photoshop of the cheems meme which he drew over in red and gave yellow eyes. He called it "Jomseph", which is presumably a corruption of "Joseph", which means that the picture was probably supposed to resemble Joe's red dragon persona. He made this post because he wanted to get given the stream artist role on the server, which you can only get if you make art for the streams. But only a matter of months later, Top Loli was banned from JADS for repeatedly pinging all of the mods using the @mod tag.

The JADS emote Jomseph was subsequently created, which was just the face of the dog in Top Loli's image. This emote started becoming widely used on the server, particularly in the Cringe Café channel originally, serving a role similar to the Kappa emote from Twitch. Its name got shortened in normal conversation from "Jomseph" to just "Jom" or "Joms". However, Joe insisted that the emote would never become a Twitch emote on his channel, and that Jom would never become a stream meme. Although sometimes Jom did get mentioned on stream.[1]

On 16th April 2021, Twitch streamer ArkKnox from the Joseph Anderson community reached a high enough follower count to add an emote to her channel, so she made her first emote Joms. She then organised a "Jom raid" on Joe's next stream, where lots of people would subscribe to her channel to unlock the emote, or unlock it with channel points, then join Joe's stream and start spamming the emote in his chat.[3][4] After Joe noticed what was happening and had been sufficiently bamboozled, he eventually gave in to the temptation and posted a joms in his own chat, because someone had gifted him a sub to ArkKnox's channel.[5]

"It's just a visceral reaction. I can't even explain it. Whenever I see Joms, I just wanna delete it." ~ Joseph Anderson

After a while of viewers expressing interest towards potential Joms merchandise, Joe negotiated with Top Loli about acquiring the rights to Joms. Then on 7th March 2023 he announced that he had acquired the rights by accepting Top Loli's offer, which was that Joe had to send him a picture of his feet.[6]

On 18th September 2023, Joms was added as an emote to Twitch streamer Criken's channel via BTTV,[7] after Twitch user NayaVoras redeemed a channel point reward on his channel to add an emote of her choice.[8] The following day, Twitch user ZerstorenHV did the same thing on Twitch streamer Strippin's channel.[9]

In October 2023 top_loli got unbanned from JADS, after Joe suggested the idea to the mods and they agreed amongst themselves to unban him.

On the 10th of January 2025, Joe added the jphJoms emote to his Twitch channel.
