Eric and The Wheel
When Joe finished his playthrough of Deadly Premonition on a Thursday, he still had another day of the week left that he would usually stream on, but he didn't want to start another one of the games from the list of voted games yet because he usually likes starting new games that people are anticipating on Tuesdays. So to decide which game he was going to stream, he used a website which lets you put text on a spinning wheel and spin it to randomly pick one of them. But when he went to the website, the wheel already had some example names on it, and then Joe spun it and it landed on the name Eric.[1] Then he started adding Eric to each one of the many wheels full of game names he created after that.[2] Joe still sometimes uses the wheel to decide between various different options, and when he does, he always puts Eric on it.
During the first stream of Gravity Rush the following Tuesday, someone in JADS pointed out how one of the characters looked really plain and as if he was the character you start with by default in a character creator in a game. Then someone else posted a screenshot of the character with the text "ERIC" beneath it in Impact font. This made it so that this was the canon appearance of Eric, and it's how he appears in fanart.[3]
The Wheel is chanified in the form of Wheel of Names-chan.
